Summer is Vacation
Lloyd’s job, trouble-shooting as a mechanical engineer, required that he cover all the states west of the Mississippi River. He flew several times a week and the frequent flyer coupons he received enabled us to travel to Europe.
In 1981, after visiting Paris, we decided to go to the town of Gunten in Switzerland where his ancestors had lived. The name Gunten made me envision a town like Strawsburg, Hugo, or other towns on the plains of Eastern Colorado.
Imagine my amazement when we arrived in Gunten and saw the Park hotel, located on Lake Thun with a breathtaking view of the spectacular Alps in the distance.
“Oh,” I exclaimed, “see if they have a room available.”
They did! On the the third floor with a balcony that overlooked that awe inspiring view!!!
