My parents couldn’t afford to buy books; they were a luxury in a household of nine children. Just providing food and shelter challenged their pocketbook. When I was nine, I was in the hospital for a short time. My Aunt Bertha sent me a book, one of The Bobbsey Twins series by Laura Lee Hope. I clinched to my chest! A book of my very own - the greatest treasure of all!
